About MBSI

The Microbiologists Society India (MBSI) was established in March 1996 and registered in November of the same year in Satara, Maharashtra (Reg. No.MAH/4814/SAT). Under the leadership of Dr. Arvind Madhavrao Deshmukh, former Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, the society is dedicated to advancing microbiology through education, research, and collaboration. MBSI’s objectives include organizing microbiology courses at all educational levels, fostering relationships between governmental and non-governmental institutions, advising on microbiological issues of public interest, and supporting conferences, seminars, and research initiatives. Additionally, the society aims to establish a comprehensive microbiology literature library and secure funding to promote activities within the field. Membership is open to students and faculty from any department with an interest in life sciences. MBSI also actively collaborates with educational institutions, exemplified by the inauguration of its unit at Kalinga University in August 2022, which aims to encourage research, organize educational events, and cultivate links between various organizations in the field of microbiology.
