Clean And Healthy River Committee (CHRC)

Clean and Healthy River Committee, Microbiologist Society of India works toward river rejuvenation with River Basin approach and is making efforts to bring National River Act for its protection, rehabilitation in collaboration with respective Government agencies. CHRC Is dedicated to contribute in Nation Building through curriculum interventions with the focus on disseminating information about the uniqueness of every river and role of microbes in river, soil restoration and maintaining ecological balance, as it has a strong relationship with human gut biome. As per the toxicological evidences the gut microbes are impacted tremendously due to air, water and soil pollution, causing serious public health risk. Hence, from its inception CHRC is committed to mobilize youth, faculties, various research and academic institutions and NGOs and training them for capacity building to scientifically resolve issues of river pollution across the landscape of India. The roadmap of CHRC is in alignment with NEP 2020, IKS and SDGs, to ensure sustainable action for climate resilience and combat global warming. Through Community oriented research participation and integrated approach, CHRC is engaging, encouraging and grooming youths with Jalsanskriti, jalsanskar & right skills for Jalsamvadhan.

Our Mission:

Dr Upendra Raval

A student of zoology and limnology, taught life sciences for a decade in South Gujarat University. Later started business of pumps, water and Wastewater related projects. Biology background helped me see cities as living organic entities, sewage dynamics forming the axle of civilization. That helped me take up teaching transdisciplinary integration for 21st century urban planning, with a special emphasis on stps, in many school of engineering and architecture.

He believes sewage as a climate linked microbial domain with prokaryotes, fungi, viruses in guts, soil, rivers, other aquatic bodies, and pollution with inter-connected links and helped me reorient people looking beyind hardware at the environmental issues to work for solutions. Understanding in short- No ecology in nature has a single equilibrium.
