Shri R. L. T. College of Science, Akola, Student Unit – Maharashtra

 

The Department of Microbiology at Shri R. L. T. College of Science, Akola, organized the Inauguration Ceremony of the Student Activity Unit, AMBER (Association of Microbiologists & Biochemists for Education & Research), for the academic session 2026–27, in collaboration with the Microbiologists Society India (MBSI). The program took place on August 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Department of Microbiology with broadened theme, “Unveiling New Opportunities, Professional Leadership and Driving Innovation Together with Societal Impact”. The objective of the event was to formally inaugurate the new student body, promote academic innovation, and inspire research-driven leadership among students as well as in society.

The event was chaired by Dr. R. D. Chandrawanshi, Principal of Shri R. L. T. College of Science, Akola. The event was inaugurated by Dr. V. D. Nanoty, former Principal, Shri R. L. T. College of Science and Brand Ambassador for MBSI, along with Dr. A. M. Garode, Member of the BoS in Biochemistry including Microbiology at SGBAU, Amravati. Dr. Y. S. Patil, BoS Member and Amravati University Coordinator for MBSI, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest with her presence. The event was guided and inspired by faculty leadership including Dr. H. S. Malpani, Head of the Department of Microbiology, and Dr. S. N. Gawande, Assistant Professor. Student leadership was represented by Ms. Amruta Sharma (President AMBER), Ms. Dhyaneshwari Patond (Vice President AMBER), Ms. Sanskruti Ambuskar (Secretary AMBER) and other executive members of AMBER. The staff members, non teaching staff and students of the Microbiology and Biochemistry departments actively participated in the event. 

The inauguration commenced with the formal ribbon-cutting, inauguration of the AMBER student unit and felicitation of the esteemed guests and dignitaries. More than 80 students participated in the event. The chief guests and inaugurators addressed the gathering, emphasizing the role of professional academic societies like MBSI in creating research opportunities and driving societal impact. Dr. R. D. Chandrawanshi delivered the presidential address, commending the department’s efforts and encouraging students to actively participate in scientific innovation and leadership roles throughout the academic year. On the occasion, the students of Microbiology and Biochemistry who secured CGPA more than 9.0 were felicitated by dignitaries. The program successfully concluded with a vote of thanks acknowledging the dignitaries, faculty members, and student organizers for their collective efforts in hosting the event.
